What Your Vibration Says About Your Freedom

Why is it that life seems so easy for some and yet others seem to struggle?
When certain areas of our lives seem challenging again and again, it may be time to look at our energy and know if it is flowing or stuck. We can get in a well-worn groove of doing the same things over and over and waiting for different results. We feel struggle when we want things to be different than the way they are.
Is your energy flowing or stuck?
If you are feeling light, open, available, free, with little stress and life seems to be moving along at a peaceful and productive speed, your energy is most likely flowing. If you feel heavy, stressed, and anxious, have physical symptoms, overeat, are chaotic, procrastinating, drink too much alcohol, zone out in front of the TV, or are escaping into retail therapy, you may be trying to deal with what doesn’t feel good – stuck energy. Stuck energy creates a low vibration, stagnation and struggle.
What Do You Mean By My Vibration?
How do you feel when you see a baby, a growling dog, a sunset or an angry person? You will respond differently to each as you see or experience their different energies. When you are in contact with someone, without even knowing it, you feel or experience their vibration. You are either drawn to or away from them.
How Can I Change My Energy Flow and Vibration?
When we can embrace the bumps along our way as learning experiences, we are on our way to shifting. Life becomes stressful, and we become tense, when we have our mind set on the way something should be. If we can create a solution from the way things really are, rather than trying to make things happen the way we want them to go, we are on our way to change and a higher vibration.
How Can I Get Started?
Quiet your mind. Meditate, listen to The Power of Now cds, practice yoga, accept what is, stay out of the critical voice in your mind, speak to yourself with loving kindness. The more you quiet your mind and listen to your heart, more of your authentic you will guide you, letting struggle fall away. Resonating in your true vibration is a key to your freedom and happiness.

FABULOUS FRIDAY Recipe of the Week

 Crockpot Bread Pudding

You’ll Need:

– 4 cups cinnamon-raisin bread, toasted and cubed
– 2 eggs
– 3/4 cup sugar
– 2 1/2 cup milk, heated to boiling and cooled
– 2 tablespoons butter, melted
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
– 1/8 teaspoon salt
– Garnish: whipped cream

How To:

  1. Spray your slow cooker with a non-stick vegetable spray.
  2. Add the bread cubes to the slow cooker.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar.
  4. Whisk in the milk, butter, vanilla extract, nutmeg and salt.
  5. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes.
  6. Mix well, pressing down so the bread will soak up the milk mixture.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.

Serve warm and topped with whipped cream.

Choose to Live Life vs. Life Living You

As we go about living our lives, life happens. 

When life happens, sometimes we don’t know what’s coming around the corner.  Situations and circumstances can change or alter our lives forever.  However, it’s not the things that happen to us that alter our lives as much as rather our decision and choices we make about what has happened in our life.

One excellent way to keep yourself balanced so you can soberly deal with any unexpected situation is by being in optimal health!  If your body is functioning in homeostasis…..that means, all five body systems (the digestive, nervous, respiratory, endocrine and muscular) are operating in peak performance.

So here’s what you need to do to not be overwhelmed or taken under when life happens…..no matter what it brings good, bad or indifferent:

Recharge Your Body with sleep.  Sleep is one of the most important keys to a healthier you!

Get rid of stress in your life.  Stress releases hormones called cortisol, adrenaline and epinephrine. These hormones alert the body to get ready for fight or flight rather than rest and repair. And while we are in this fight or flight mode, stress breaks down the body keeping it in a state of non-resisting sickness instead of healing.

Eat real food!  Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, stated “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food”.  If you find it difficult to cut out the fast or processed food, small changes can bring positive results. You can eliminate most of the foods that are making you sick and replace them with the right fuel, live nutrient dense foods and you will begin to see a healthier diet making positive changes in your life.

Drink more water!  Our body is composed of about 60% water and drinking more of it will help us maintain a balance of body fluids.  Water can help control calories by substituting it for higher calorie beverages.  Water can help your kidneys, help maintain normal bowel movements and help keep skin hydrated and looking younger.

And lastly exercise!  Bodies in motion are essential for a healthy full life.  Treat your body well and give it what it needs and it will perform and endure the way GOD created it to serve you—–well!!  It is my experience that you must incorporate some form of exercise be it walking, cardiovascular, weights or Pilates into your life style—–so long as your body is in motion consistently.  However, there are considerations for individuals and how that will fit into your way of life and within those parameters.  Maybe your doctor, fitness coach or personal trainer can recommend a form of exercise that would work best for you.

She has started a Running/Walking club that meets Monday – Friday at 6am at Crete Monee

High School track.  Everyone runs or walks at their own pace and on any days you wish.

If you would like to join the group, call or message Tammie with your name and

phone number… she’s keeping a list of participants to make sure there is always a group

and you don’t end up out there by yourself.


FABULOUS FRIDAY Smoothie of the Week

 Apple Pie Protein Smoothie

This delicious apple pie smoothie tastes just like apple pie, yet it’s made healthy with good-for-you ingredients. And it’s naturally sweetened and gluten-free.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large red apples (I used fuji), cored
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground nutmeg
  • pinch of ground ginger
  • tiny pinch of ground cloves
  • (optional: 1-2 pitted dates or 1-2 teaspoons honey, to sweeten if needed)

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a blender.  Pulse until combined and smooth.  Taste and add sweetener if needed, pulsing to combine.

Serve immediately.  Sprinkle the top of each smoothie with a pinch of cinnamon if desired.

 Walking Boosts Brainpower + 4 Other Reasons To Exercise Every Day

As a NASM-certified personal trainer, I’ve heard every client excuse under the sun. (And as a life-long exerciser, I’ve used over half of them myself!) There’s no getting around it: Sometimes working out is just hard. However, scientific research provides plenty of motivation for hesitant clients (and even exhausted trainers!).

Here are five science-based reminders why exercising may be the most important thing any of us all do all day:

1. Walking is linked to brain growth.

A 2010 study found that older adults who walked for 40 minutes three times a week for one year had brain growth in the hippocampus — an area of the brain associated with spatial memory. As study author, Arthur Kramer, notes this data suggests that “even individuals with very low levels of fitness and individuals in their 60s to 80s can still show benefits in terms of brain health and cognitive health.”

2. Exercise increases energy.

A 2006 review of 70 studies found that chronic exercise programs are associated with an increase in energy and a decrease in feelings of fatigue that are “large enough to be clinically important.” Research has since supported this claim, including a 2010 cycling study that found that acute exercise improves energy in people who report persistent fatigue.

3. Exercise may work better than antidepressants.

A 1999 study assigned 156 moderately depressed men and women to an exercise, medication (Zoloft), or exercise and medication group. Results showed that while medication worked more quickly to reduce symptoms of depression, there were no significant differences among treatment groups at 16 weeks. However, most interestingly: A 10-month follow-up revealed that exercise group members had significantly lower rates of depression than those in the medication or the combination groups! Regular exercise involvement at 10 months was also a significant predictor of lower rates of depression.

4. Exercise prevents against premature death.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, it has been estimated that people who are physically active for approximately seven hours a week have a 40% lower risk of premature death than those who are active for less than 30 minutes a week.

Likewise, a 2013 meta-epidemiological study found that exercise was “significantly more effective” than medication in reducing odds of mortality among patients with stroke.

5. Physical inactivity is twice as deadly as obesity.

In January 2015, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a groundbreaking study finding that the risk of premature death due to lack of exercise is twice that posed by obesity. Perhaps most exciting: Researchers found that inactive individuals could reduce their risk of early death by 16-30% just by burning 90-110 extra calories a day (the equivalent of a 20-minute brisk walk)!

So whether you’re a personal trainer, personal training client or just somebody excited about beginning a new fitness journey, remember these studies and stay committed! Exercise is about so much more than just looking good. (Even though that part’s fun too!)

 10 Truths Wise People Know (But Don’t Talk About)

Do you ever wonder how some people seem to have life figured out? Their lives flow, they seem happy and at peace with themselves and the world. Meanwhile, many others struggle to make ends meet, their dreams aren’t coming true and they feel stuck.

Life doesn’t have to be so hard, yet so many people feel trapped by their circumstances.

So-called “wise” people, or “old souls,” seem to have a handle on life, and they reflect a positive presence that many people aspire to. Learning how to navigate the shady sides of life is a process that can be learned.

We may think we should be further along than we are, have more money, have a different body or a different income, but it all comes back to growth. The truth about life is that learning will never stop. Looking at all situations in your life as opportunities to grow will help you feel more relaxed and enjoy the flow of life.

In doing research for my next book, Adventures for Your Soul, I dove deep into the top habits that hold us back from reaching our full potential.

What I discovered is that life is like a big classroom. We enroll in classes and learn daily lessons that can help us grow. We can resist the lessons, but until we learn them, we will repeat the patterns. This is why we end up in the same relationships, the same soul-sucking jobs, or the same ridiculous situations again and again. We say things like, “How did I get here?” “Why is this happening to me?” or “Why can’t I get a break,” but shifting our perspective could help us break free.

You can’t run away from your problems. But you can adopt the wise person’s mindset and learn from them.

By looking at all facets of our life with an objective lens and a focus on opportunity for growth, we can reduce the burden of feeling as if we’re off track.

Here are 10 life lessons wise people have figured out but most likely won’t talk about:

1. There are no mistakes, only growth.

2. You will keep repeating the same patterns until you get the lesson.

3. Whatever you believe about yourself on the inside is manifested on the outside.

4. The more you approve of yourself, the less you need others’ approval.

5. All situations are pathways instead of problems.

6. Things don’t happen to you — they happen for you.

7. There is no “there” to get to — it never ends.

8. Where you are today is preparing you for tomorrow. Everything is connected.

9. You will always get what you need. It might not be what you want, but it is always exactly what you need.

10. What you make of your life is up to you.

5 Things To Remember When You’re Struggling Emotionally

When you’re going through a rough time, it’s hard to concentrate on anything besides how hard it feels in the moment.

Focusing on how unfair your situation may be and dwelling on the pain won’t do anything to alleviate the stress of the situation. In fact, it will probably make it worse!

Instead, embrace your struggle by recognizing any of the five truths below.

1. You’re growing stronger.

Instead of rooting through all the possible reasons behind the pain, embrace the simple truth that you’ll be a stronger person just for getting through it. This is the way it has to be right now in order to create a brighter future!

2. This will lead you to the next step in your life.

Life is a series of trials and tribulations. Without them, we can’t get to the good parts.

Think of it this way: very few people in the grand total of the population are born in the most beautiful parts of the world. Most people have to travel in order to get there. To do that, you have to save up money for a plane ticket, wait in the hectic airport, fly for hours on end, maybe lose a bag and find out that your hotel room is next to the elevator … but you get there, and you appreciate the beauty all the more for the journey.

Know that you’re on your way to someplace great; you just have to do a little traveling first.

3. Your story is getting more interesting.

When I struggle, I like to think of my life as a novel. If someone were to read it, would it be interesting? It wouldn’t be if you didn’t have any setbacks!

Think about how boring life would be if you rode the comfortable train the whole way through. You wouldn’t learn anything. You wouldn’t be grateful for what you have because you wouldn’t understand what it was like to be without it. You wouldn’t know how resilient you can be when faced with an obstacle.

Embrace your adventure, and know that the stories worth reading never end in chaos.

4. This is an opportunity to go deeper.

It’s not easy to be present when we’re emotionally stripped raw because it hurts more than being present in good times. When we do, however, we tune into our inner strength, and are able to empower ourselves forward with clarity and faith.

Here’s how to go deeper without getting lost in the darkness (note: if you’re going through extreme stress or are worried that this exercise will bring up emotions too painful to handle by yourself, please put this aside and call a mental health professional before proceeding):

Close your eyes in a safe, quiet place.

Take a few deep breaths to calm your mind.

Allow yourself to fully feel the emotions you’re having, knowing that you are safe. Take deep, steady breaths and let the emotions out.
Start to breathe into a mantra that makes you feel strong. Some of my favorites are, “I am enough,” “I will survive and thrive,” and “I am stronger than this struggle.” Repeat these mantras while breathing deeply for as long as it takes for you to feel strong and capable.

Ask yourself what you need to do to move forward in spite of this struggle. Take a few breaths to ruminate on this.

Open your eyes when you’re ready, and write down the solution you came up with. Then go into the rest of your day focused and determined!

Realizing your own strength in the midst of distress can be an enlightening experience. Embrace this opportunity to go deeper!

5. Your triumph will inspire someone else’s.

When you rise above your struggle and come out of it stronger and wiser, you inspire others around you to do the same.

You can give someone the hope they need to keep fighting, just by surviving your own hardships.

After I climbed out of the worst of my clinical depression and felt strong enough to share it with the world, I received email after email expressing gratitude from people who — only after reading my story — have triumphed over their own depression. You affect the lives of those around you every day, just by choosing how you get through the day!

You can handle whatever the universe throws at you. No matter how hard it seems, you are stronger than you know, and you aren’t alone in this.

 Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup coconut probiotic drink
  • 1 cup coconut milk

Preparation

How To Become The Most Magnetic Person You Know

Magnetism is an irresistible force. It’s hard to ignore the pull you feel naturally toward people, places and things that are magnetic.

In feng shui, yin and yang are the two energies that create all of life. Yin is the passive energy. Yang is the active energy.

Most if us are good at yang energy. We tend to have to be yang to get through the day! Yang is also the energy rewarded most by society. It’s noble to be a workaholic in many cultures. But being a workaholic doesn’t mean you’re successful, happy, or even able to perform your best all day long.

While magnetism is something to cultivate, it’s not something active. It’s yin energy. This means, you aren’t likely to “achieve” magnetism. I’ve seen it consistently be the very opposite. Magnetism is something to sink into, like a super-plush sofa.

You actually become more magnetic when you do much less and relax much more.

That idea is pretty magnetic in itself, isn’t it? If you want to cultivate your magnetism, there are a few simple tips to keep in mind:

1. Stick close to nature.

Spending more time in nature can help to deeply de-stress your body, reset your biological sleep clock and help you become more grounded and centered. If you can’t find Nature nearby, bring more nature into your home with plants and stones.

2. Embrace your true nature.

Happy people are way more magnetic than people forcing themselves through life. Doing even a bit more of what you love every day can help you feel more powerfully connected to life.

3. Rest much more.

Sleep more and get more high-quality sleep; you’ll feel more precise, creative, athletic, happy and healthy. Something as simple as sleeping in complete darkness (think: thicker curtains, no TV as you sleep) can help you to sleep more restfully.

4. Lounge.

I am an advocate for lounge space, and that includes naps if you need them, baths, time to read or space to meditate. Lounging is one of the more enjoyable parts of yin energy, really reveling in relaxation.

5. Listen more.

There’s a great listener who goes to parties and barely talks; he mainly listens. The feedback on this guy is that he’s unbeatable, he’s the most interesting guy. Though you know little about him, its hard to ignore him because his energy is so different from all the talkers.

While I don’t suggest you stop talking, if you’re a genuinely good listener you stand to learn and connect a lot more profoundly, hear stories and make others feel seen and acknowledged.

I often call this the quality of being “interested” rather than “interesting.”

In feng shui, it is the receptive yin energy that allows us to just be who we are, without embellishing, adorning or stressing. It’s the most natural way to be, but it’s not always easy, since we live in a world based on achievement and needing to hold people’s attention in all the noise of a day.

If you want to supercharge your magnetism, get rid of things that are weighing you down. After all, how can you attract more energy and more stuff and more people to your life if you have no clear space to receive it all? This takes some energy, but the results are unbeatable.

Clear some clutter from your home and your life, and magnetism follows almost instantly. When you get rid of both extra stuff and, in doing so, unload the stuck emotions attached to all that stuff, you’ll be amazed at the gorgeous things waiting for you.

FABULOUS FRIDAY Snack of the Week

Homemade Energy Bar Recipe

Makes 5 bars

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup quick rolled oats, gluten free if need be
  • 1/4 cup crunchy almond butter, smooth works too
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maca powder
  • 1/4 cup water

Preparation

1. Place all ingredients in food processor, and pulse until well blended. The batter should be sticky and easy to press together and form into individual bars.

2. Form into bars and place in fridge for 30 minutes to set. If planning to keep for longer than 4 days, store in freezer.

Recipe Note:The type of protein powder you use will affect how the recipe turns out. I find the fewer ingredients the better, and taste wise, a powder that doesn’t have added veggies in the powder works better. If you don’t add protein powder, you may need a little less water.

One hundred and eleven years ago today, Dr. Seuss (or, Theodor Seuss Geisel) was born. Author and illustrator of 46 children’s books, Dr. Seuss is one of the most well-known and beloved authors of all time, with his work having been adapted into 11 TV specials, four feature films, a Broadway musical, four television series and a theme park over the years.
